1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Convertible
| July 7, 2008
This car was an online Auction purchase that Brian made in October of 2003. The car was shipped from Massachussetts to Iowa. Just like many online auction cars, this one was not exactly in as good of shape as was expected. It had a rust hole in the trunk large enough to drop a basketball through (and not hit any sheet metal on the way down). The floors, frame, trunk floor, rear quarters, doors, front fenders and engine were all replaced and body work all done in Brian's 2 stall garage. Needless to say his wife Jean was very anxious for the 4 year project to finally come together. Now it sports a mildly built (and streetable) 355 Chevy Small Block engine, a 700R4 overdrive Transmission from a '91 Chevy Astro Van, new upholstery and a new Hartz cloth convertible top (also installed by Brian in his garage).
Paint was the only item farmed out - to a local Autobody shop.
The car was driven 170 miles round trip over the 4th of July weekend (2008)to attend and show at the Annual Good Guys Midwest National Car Show at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Not a trailer queen, this car was built to enjoy by Brian and his Family (Jean, Derek, Tyler and Amber).
